I was inspired by Lou Rollins' recent post, A Harlequin Miss, about the restoration of a retro Eldar Harlequin miniature and decided to talk about a little project that I'm undertaking. I have had a Chaos Blood Bowl team on the workbench since the start of the year, back to when I made a post about basing some chaos warriors. My local league is currently finishing up its season for the Spike Magazine trophy and will start its Dungeonbowl season within the next few weeks. In preparation for the new season, I have resolved to finish my chaos team, The Brawnx Bleatboys. With my beastmen just a few touches from being complete, I only need one more player to finish filling out the team: a minotaur. The miniature that I've had in mind for my frenzied team muscle is an old Games Workshop minotaur from 1987 which is currently suffering under a caked on paint job that I gave it in that same era when I was in middle school. I thought that it would be fun and nostalgic to restore this miniature and put it back in to service on the table top. Before giving it a long Simple Green bath and stripping it down for a repaint, I thought that it would be fun to snap a photo for the archives. Stay tuned for a future post where I'll show the final results alongside of the complete Bleatboys roster.

Chaos Team: Chaos Warriors
These are the chaos warriors that I've finished painting for a Chaos Blood Bowl team. The color scheme that I decided on for this team was black and red. Obvious for a chaos team, I know. I couldn't help it. My general blueprint was to use black for their armor, crimson red for their gloves and boots, and gold for armor accents.
Chaos Team: Beastmen #1
Here's the first beastman that I've finished painting for my upcoming, and still unnamed, Chaos Team. I thought that I'd paint a single beastman first to figure out a paint scheme for the beastmen. I plan on having different skin tones and fur colors for various beastmen, but I figured painting one guy first would let me figure out a general paint recipe that I can try to follow for the rest of them.

Chaos Team Based
I finished basing my next Blood Bowl team project, an as yet unnamed Chaos team. While I have no immediate plans to play them in my local league since we just began a new season, I have been wanting to get them painted up for a while. They are the standard Chaos All Stars team from Games Workshop. For the bases, I used a common practice of making rocklike formations from cork board tile. Since figures in blood bowl get handled a fair amount, I was worried about how they would hold up if I just pinned them them onto or through the cork. Rather than pinning, I decided to mount the miniature on top of the base, instead of slotting it through the base, and to build a support for the miniature's tab with green stuff. The green stuff was pressed into the base's slot and then wrapped up around the mini's tab. Once that set up for a few hours, I then built the cork around the tab and green stuff support and underneath the figure's feet. Finally, since cork can be a bit crumbly, I tried to seal it by brushing the cork with PVA glue. The final result seems very secure.
Since the set only comes with 3 chaos warriors and the CRP allows a maximum of 4 on a team, I created the fourth warrior from a 1980's era Warhammer chaos warrior that I've had since my high school days. An overnight bath in Simple Green, a hearty scrub and clipping the mace from his hand has him ready to be included on the roster.
Now I just need to clean up some of the mold lines, prime and paint.

The four Chaos Warriors.
4 of the 8 Beastmen to show the 4 distinct poses.
